C\u2019est \u00e0 Ratcliffe-on-Soar que la derni\u00e8re centrale \u00e9lectrique au charbon du Royaume-Uni a ferm\u00e9 d\u00e9finitivement ses portes, le lundi 30 septembre. Inaugur\u00e9e en 1967, cette derni\u00e8re fournissait de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 2 millions de m\u00e9nages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1990, environ 80 % de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 du pays tirait encore son origine du charbon. Malgr\u00e9 une baisse progressive, cette part repr\u00e9sentait encore 40 % il y a trois ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bien que le Royaume-Uni ne soit pas le premier \u00e0 s\u2019engager dans cette voie, il devient la premi\u00e8re puissance du G7 \u00e0 atteindre l\u2019objectif d\u2019une sortie totale du charbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce geste s\u2019inscrit dans l\u2019ambition plus large du Royaume-Uni de d\u00e9carboner totalement sa production \u00e9lectrique d\u2019ici cinq ans. Mais rien n\u2019est encore fait puisque la part des \u00e9nergies renouvelables repr\u00e9sentent actuellement 50 % de la production nationale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
